Trend of direct selling business

The idea of direct selling and multi-level marketing has been in existence since long time. Several companies including Life Insurance Corporation of India followed this business model, and in almost last decades when India opened up to the global market, various MNCs like Qnet and other companies entered the Indian market with wide range of products ranging from nutrition, beauty, storage products etc.

The Direct Selling Industry has registered remarkable growth rate in last one decade.

The women have always had an intrinsic appeal for direct selling business due to the business. Women join the business initially for part time but over a period of time, if they feel business is growing, it is remarkably seen that other earning members of the family also gets involved to build the business making it a full time business.

The widely accepted businesses through direct marketing are Insurances & financial products cosmetics, food, health, education& training, household, spices, stationery, sanitary products, garments, agricultural items, weight loss supplements, home care etc.

As per the current record more than 50% women are involved in this industry. Today, the industry is successfully growing with over 40 lakh distributors (almost 50 percent of them are women). The basic skill set required to enter this field that you don't need to be pro-employee or very corporate. A person should possess sound understanding of the offerings, the business plan and should have good presentation skills to promote it. e.g.: At Qnet most of the lady members are housewives.
